Join Coburg House jeweller Christina Hirst in our gallery for an exploration of nature through making.
For the last 20 years Christina has been experimenting with Precious Metal Clay (PMC) a material developed by Mitsubishi Materials. Using fine silver dust an organic binder and water, they produced a clay like material which is very easy to manipulate and is perfect for producing organic textures and form. The water evaporates during drying, the organic binder burns away during firing to leave pure silver. Christina has developed a process of fusing PMC onto wire to create pieces without the need for large amounts of tools or even soldering.
This is an exhibition of work in progress. Christina will be donning her lab coat and making work live in the gallery space. Alongside her drawings, photographs, experiments and samples. Come and learn more about her process and this amazing material.
